A PT PMA is the standard way for a foreigner to own a company in Indonesia. If you plan to start a business here, this is the structure most people use. This guide explains the process in plain terms.
What is a PT PMA?
PT PMA stands for Perseroan Terbatas Penanaman Modal Asing, which means a limited company with foreign investment. It lets foreigners own all or part of a company in Indonesia.

Cost and timeline
A new PT PMA costs IDR 18,000,000 (about $1,000) and takes 10-15 days.
If you also want to live in Indonesia as an investor, we offer a package that adds a 1-person investor KITAS (a 2-year stay permit). It costs IDR 36,000,000 (about $2,000) if done offshore, or IDR 37,000,000 (about $2,056) if done onshore, and takes 30-40 days.
Documents you need
- Passport valid for at least 18 months (30 months for the KITAS package)
- A recent photo with a white background
- Bank statement for the last 3 months, showing a minimum of $2,000
- A company name proposal
- For the KITAS package: company name, shareholder names and business fields
The process in three steps

- We deliver the company documents and, if you chose the package, start your KITAS.

- New PT PMA: 10-15 days
- PT PMA + 1-person investor KITAS: 30-40 days

Why start early
A company needs time. Registration alone takes 10-15 days, and the KITAS package takes 30-40 days. Opening a bank account, hiring and signing contracts all come after that. If your plan is to start operating on a certain date, count backwards from it. The most common delay is waiting on documents, so sending them early is the easiest way to save weeks.
